I have recently discovered a blogger who has wonderful insights on aging. At 77 Candace Cima has been interviewed and published for her positive outlook on aging. She is found on Life in My 70s by Candace Cima. Mel your wig journey has been inspiring as well. I have been fortunate to reverse some of my hair loss with the help from my dermatologist. But I keep my eye on what you’re sharing so I have options and so I can share with others. Thank you for sharing.
I turned 70 in December and I am definitely invisible. But what I would like to warn all of your audience about is becoming invisible to doctors. This is a real phenomenon and if you don't advocate for yourself you better have someone with you that will. Once you become gray in the US, you become almost invisible. I am fighting this fight for two of my sisters, one older and one younger. It is like you no longer count, or are expendable. Sad, but true. Great video MelB! ♥️☘️
You are right on the point!!!! It’s very sad, I go to doctors appointments with my 92 yo Dad. They just write him off as “well you are old”. During the pandemic, getting care for my mother with Alzheimer’s was impossible. It was deplorable.
@MelsBeAgeless Oh, my goodness, that is terrible MelB. That is when it started for us too. Doctors got fed up during the pandemic and I believe the elderly took the brunt of it. I am so sorry about your Mum and Dad. I cannot believe they are still with you. Prayers. ♥️☘️
Jen, thank you! We are all a work in progress. I overthink too much. That is my stumbling block. It takes courage getting older and fighting back to regain our confidence and place. Supporting each other can go a long way.
One thing I say to myself is that no one can tell me what’s right for me. I wear what makes me feel good. I’m a wig virgin and have been nervous but I’m facing my fears and looking at wigs as just another tool in my arsenal to make me feel joy just like clothes and makeup. I miss being around people because my husband is ill and we can’t get out much but when I do go out I do look people in the eye and smile and often say hello. Sadly most don’t see it because they are looking down but I try. I’m hoping come spring I can get us out at least once a week because I need interactions with others so I’m going to explore community resources for older adults. I’m 66 and hubby is 72 but I feel decades younger in my heart and attitude. It’s been tough for several yrs but I’m not giving up on life outside my four walls. Thanks for the time today.
Thank you for sharing your life and story here! People look down because like us they are insecure, feel fear of being seen or just in there thoughts. We can keep on to spread some joy and cheer. I’m sorry to hear your husband is ill, it is a heavy load to bear sometimes. Well wig virgin 😁 (I have to use that from now on) the place to start wearing them is at home. Gives you time to adjust to the new you! And yes, I wear them like changing the color of my lipstick and shoes! It’s a fashion and mood choice❣️. Thank you for taking the time to watch this video
I can see a slight pink tint to your hair I love it. Thanks for this video. I’m 63, and belong to the invisible club. When you said ‘.. you keep your eyes down… don’t make eye contact…’ that is ME!!! I NEVER use to do that. I use to walk into a room and owned it. Now I creep in and out. I feel like I do a - I will avoid you before you avoid me thing. I have felt invisible for about 5 yrs now. I am going to try and to start making eye contact again. Thanks again.
No, I can’t believe you’re that age. You look fantastic. I thought you would be much younger than me and I’m 60. I’ll need to subscribe to get your tips. ❤

Mel, you’re so sweet! Thank you for the encouragement. I always try to be invisible. Working on the confidence with myself and wigs. Great video!! 😊❤

Yes. I know what it’s like to be invisible.
So little discussed about it. It’s important we see each other.

This is a question, do you know I love more?
Well, I know who I love ❤️
